NCMB-IVA SETTLES COVID-19 CONCERNS IN

A WIG MANUFACTURING FACTORY

The labor dispute between The European Hair Factory, Inc. (TEHFI) and the Samahan ng mga Empleyado sa The European Hair Factory, Inc. affiliated with the Philippine Transport and General Workers Organization (PTGWO) had straightened out their differences during the second conference held on October 18, 2021.

The union sought the assistance of the Branch on October 4, 2021 when they filed a Preventive Mediation (PM).

Two issues were raised under this PM, first; Company’s Memo regarding COVID-19 testing which requires the employee who is on sick leave for four days to submit medical certificate and antigen test shouldered by the concerned employee and second; In-house “health program” covered by provision in the CBA, which states that the Php75,000 coverage per employee per year is exclusive of COVID-19 sickness.

Through the deep compassion and wisdom of Conciliator-Mediator Delia D. Yu, both parties agreed to settle the COVID 19 concerns.

The agreement states that employees who goes on sick leave for four days or more shall submit a medical certificate and only those with medical recommendation by the doctor to undergo Antigen testing shall be subjected of the same at the cost of the Management.

In addition, the health insurance coverage of Php75,000 per employee per year shall cover COVID-19 sickness.

With an open mind and a humble heart, issues on health concerns during this trying time can be easily ironed out and concluding it with high spirit boosted the morale of everyone.

TEHFI is engaged in manufacturing of natural looking wigs located in Cabuyao, Laguna with 149 employees, represented by Mr. Reynaldo Dia the Chief Operating Officer and Ms. Marivic Lota, HR Supervisor.
